A Durango Classic
Our History
Shampoo Salon was founded in 1978 by Richard and Gina Lopilato, a dynamic duo with extensive experience in the beauty industry. Before settling in Durango, Colorado, Richard and Gina honed their craft in the bustling cities of New York, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. As passionate students and friends of the legendary Vidal Sassoon, they brought a touch of big-city style to our charming mountain town.
In August 1997, after relocating from Dallas, Regina Roark joined the team, bringing her own flair and expertise. By April 2000, Regina, along with Miss Jane Fogleman, took over the salon with a commitment to maintaining the high-quality service and laid-back atmosphere that Richard and Gina had established.
Over the years, Shampoo Salon has evolved, from changes in staff and clientele to updates in esthetics. Our goal has always been to stay current with trends and innovations to offer our clients the best possible experience.
We are immensely grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey. Every corner of the salon is filled with stories of friendship and support from friends, stylists, clients, and family. A special shout-out goes to Joe and Helen Lewis and Ron Fogleman for their invaluable contributions, moral support, and hard work along the way!
